Another great Saturday of NHL activity is set to perform out on October 12. Fourteen games are around the board during Saturday. One will be between the Washington Capitals and the Dallas Stars. These two teams are thought to be contenders this season. This game will faceoff at roughly 8:00 PM Eastern time on Saturday night.
Washington has started out the season with a list of 2-1-2, that includes them. While the Capitals are sitting at the divisions cap, this was not. Washington has dropped their past three games following a 2-0 start to the season. The Capitals will look to get back on course with a road victory on Saturday.
The Stars are now in fifth position of their Central Division. Dallas has not been away to the beginning they had been hoping for after making some moves in the offseason. The Stars have earned points in their past two matches, but will look to build a winning streak to return into a winning record up.
Because they made playoff runs last season the Stars and Both the Capitals both have a whole lot of talent on their roster. While Dallas proceeded on into the second round before being knocked out, washington was knocked out in seven matches. These two teams havent had the best begins for this season, but will perform at an early season matchup on Saturday night.
Dallas and washington met during last season. The game was in Washington. The Stars jumped out to a 3-1 lead, but the Capitals were able to battle back. Jason Dickinson completed the comeback bid of Washington with a goal in overtime though. The match was hosted by the Stars and it was yet another one that was close. Tyler Seguin scored his second goal of the night at overtime to give Dallas the win.
The Capitals and the Stars have already met up once this season on October 8. The scoring opened up with a goal in the first period. John Carlson gave Washington the return following Roope Hintz tied it up. Nicklas Backstrom then played hero because he scored with thirty seconds left in the game to tie this up. Tyler Seguin completed the match though to give Dallas the win.
Dallas was able to acquire the three games against Washington going back to last season. The Stars win this year came from the Capitals and they will look to earn their second win of the season also from Washington. These two teams have been in eight of their last nine matchups against one another, which makes me expect another fantastic match on Saturday within one goal of each other.
The Capitals have experienced a lot of power play opportunities to obtain their special teams moving so far this season. Washington has scored four power play goals. The Capitals penalty kill has been doing well too, stopping opponents on twelve of the power play chances. Washington will look to maintain these numbers up .
Dallas specific teams has not been performing quite too on the season. The Stars have just scored one power play goal on fourteen chances this year to get a 7.14 power play percentage. Dallas has committed twenty-one penalties, but possess only allowed three objectives for an 85.71 penalty kill percentage.
The Stars will look to alter some things up going into the matchup of Saturday night as they look to acquire their power play going. Both teams have set up a penalty kill on the season, but Washington has a slight advantage as their power play has been working. With Alexander Ovechkin on the power play it is hazardous and Dallas will look to neutralize it.
Braden Holtby will get the nod in net for the Capitals. Holtby has gone thus far this season to 1-1-2 within his starts. Hes made a save percentage of .868 and a GAA of 3.67. Last season, Holtby went 32-19-5 using a .911 save percentage and a 2.82 GAA. Holtby has been off to a wonderful start, but I expect him to do it going sooner rather than later.
Ben Bishop is expected to start for Dallas on Saturday night. Bishop has gone 1-2-1 this year. Hes posted a save percentage of .910 and a 2.48 GAA. Bishop was a Vezina Trophy finalist last season as he ended with a record of 27-15-2. In those games he had a .934 save percentage and a GAA of 1.98 to help lead the Stars into the playoffs.
Neither goalie was off to the start, however, Bishop has put up the numbers that are better so much this season. Bishop had the season last season, but Holtby remains a starting netminder. I expect this difficult beginning to turn around. I believe Holtby will try to find some revenge against the Stars as he looks to provide the Capitals a much needed win.
The Stars were able to choose the season series between these two teams first game, but I believe that Washington will rebound right back with a road triumph in their own. Neither team was off to an perfect beginning, however, Dallas has not been performing much better than the Capitals. Washingtons special teams may help provide them an increase and it might really help the Capitals pull off the street mad, when Holtby may find his groove.
BetOnline has Dallas. This implies that the Stars will win this match around 53.5 percent of their moment. I believe that this game should be nearer in favor of the Capitals to . Washington is on a losing streak against Dallas, but streaks come to a conclusion. I believe that the Capitals will finish their three game skid on Saturday with a road win against the Stars night.
