This is a list of events scheduled and held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), a mixed martial arts promotion based in the United States. UFC’s primary event, UFC 1, happened on November 12, 1993. Each UFC event contains fights. Traditionally, every event starts off with a preliminary card followed by a main card, with the final struggle known as the main event.
UFC events are split into seven Distinct formats:
“Numbered” events, now airing on pay-per-view, with a few exceptions
“UFC on ESPN” events, now airing on ESPN
“UFC on Fox” occasions, previously aired on Fox
“Fight Night” events, formerly aired on Spike, Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports two or UFC Fight Pass. Currently airing on ESPN+
“The Ultimate Fighter Finale” events, previously aired on Spike, FX, Fox Sports 1 or 2 UFC Fight Pass. Will begin on ESPN+ in 2019
“UFC on FX” occasions, formerly aired on FX
“UFC on Fuel TV” events, previously aired on Fuel TV
“UFC Live” occasions, formerly aired on Versus
Most of these”numbered” events have happened on pay-per-view, however there are several exceptions for reasons like tape-delay. Occasions like UFC 72, which took place in Belfast, Northern Ireland, U.K., were sold on pay-per-view, but due to tape-delay, purchase rates weren’t as high as events which aired in a traditional starting time. [1] As such, events participate in significantly different time zones, such as UFC 70, UFC 75, UFC 89, UFC 95, UFC 105, UFC 120, UFC 122, and UFC 138, were given a same-night airing in American prime time on Spike. [2] Historically, the UFC has also aired preliminary fights prior to the principal battle cards, either on television through Spike, FX, and Gas TV, or online through Facebook and YouTube. Beginning in August 2013, beginning with UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Sonnen, the UFC began airing non-PPV events on either Fox Sports 1 or Fox Sports 2. [3] In January 2014, as part of their business’s global expansion, the UFC started broadcasting various foreign events exclusively on their subscription-based digital network, UFC Fight Pass. [4] In July 2009, the UFC held its unofficial 100th”inaugural occasion”; however, formally, despite being called UFC 100, it was actually the 101st numbered event (and of course the 133rd event entire ). The UFC signed a deal with Fox Sports Net, after Fox agreed to broadcast 1 fight in June 2002, during its”All-Star Summer” that month. [5] UFC 37 and 38 had already been scheduled and promoted, however as UFC 38 was the advertising’s debut in the United Kingdom, they established UFC 37.5; an occasion that became the first ever mixed martial arts fight available on cable tv. [5] As of UFC 239: Jones vs. Santos, which took place on July 6, 2019, there were 484 UFC events held in 154 cities in 26 countries.
