Gary Neville’s verdict on Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal, Man Utd, Tottenham and Chelsea

Gary Neville assesses Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea ahead of the Yield of Their Premier League.

Top-flight action resumes this weekend after the global break and the Sky Sports pro has had his say on those that finished in the top six last season, assessing their starts.
Read on on Liverpool’s title cost, Man City problem, Arsenal’s promising beginning underneath Unai Emery, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Man United reconstruct and hard starts for Chelsea and Spurs.
Neville says:”I had been watching Liverpool at Burnley and I had that feeling.
“I said last year I believed they had been a championship team. They are a tournament team. They are playing .
“You watched them at Burnley, plus they were not brilliant in the first 20 minutes, but they move and find a goal and then another objective.
“You talk about the clinical element of a team. The piece is right, the attacking piece is right, and also the midfield appears solid and seasoned. They’re a title-winning team and they were last year, essentially with exactly what they did.”

Neville states:”In case Aymeric Laporte’s injury is a serious one, it’s a major issue for City. I said a couple of weeks ago I was struggling to comprehend why City did not follow through on Harry Maguire using Vincent Kompany departing the club.
“I believed Kompany won them the Celtics in the last 10 matches of last year when he played in all those matches. Forget the Leicester minute which was magnificent, I thought they were held by his leadership together just like you would not believe when Liverpool were implementing pressure. Concerning that figure, I think this has been by Laporte.
“I think that will cost City points. To be fair, there’s not any one better at training compared to Pep Guardiola stop. And there’s no one better in making what would be play nicely.
“I saw two Champions League finals where Barcelona’d Javier Mascherano and Yaya Toure playing centre-back against Manchester United. So, I am not going to sit here and make the mistake of believing since they have that much of this ball during games, even a Kyle Walker or into a Fernandinho can not turn into a.
“What I would say is that if Laporte is outside for a long time, I think it will cost City points because he is a dominant centre-back. I saw him three occasions and he’s a terrific player. It is a real worry for City. That’s the 1 downer out of the weekend City and if I had been a City fan it might worry me at the short-term and the medium-term, depending on how long he was out ”

Neville says:”I believed there was great things from Arsenal in their defeat at Liverpool. I came with a level of sympathy from it, thinking there was. I have been like this. Against Spurs, additionally, you speak about the threat, the seriousness but you have to mention they do look sloppy and rash.
“We talked about the goalkeeper, Bernd Leno’s error. I do trust him. I really don’t think he is anywhere near the course of the other top goalkeepers we’ve got in the Premier League. David and Sokratis Luiz, the two centre-backs, are reckless.
“You can assert that Hector Bellerin has to return in, Rob Holding’s got to come back, and Kieran Tierney has also got to return so that back four can be bolstered. However, you worry that back four may not be for at which Arsenal need to be fine enough.
“They somehow need to unearth a centre-back from somewhere that’s going to hold back that line together.
“There is still that anxiety of Arsenal that they look all around the place at the trunk when they have good players against them.
“We watched Tottenham produce many chances on the counter-attack against them whereas the really top teams handle the counter-attack. They don’t allow different teams to cancel them City and Liverpool and sustain their attacks.

Neville states:”When you have a young team like the one Manchester United possess – it’s got a lot of gamers who are growing and attempting to improve themselves I believe they are going to find a lot of consequences like this where they really do OK from the match. I thought they played okay but they just don’t have this element which would enable them to see off the game and win the match.
“There’s a component of frustration from United fans because of where the club have been. There that recent history of victory under Sir Alex Ferguson however there’s been seven or six years since that and there’s a part of frustration building – real frustration – which they are not on the path.
“I think they are on the perfect path in terms of what they are doing since the very first thing United have to do, you have to get a set of people in that changing area that wish to be there.
“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, at that which he is doing, is attempting to play the long game. To play the long game he is going to want the support out above. He’s going to want strong leadership during the next two or three seasons to be able to have those five or four move windows he wants, not just to actually get people in the dressing room all facing the same direction, but to get the quality in that is desired. You will need the quality to choose the alignment in the room.
“Exactly what Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp have done at Man City and Liverpool, it took time to get right. Guardiola 12 months, three move windows, since he had a better group in the first location were taken by it. It’s taken in what he’d say what he would like to perform and is his personality, his 29, the culture to impact completely and find a team.
“It does take some time. Solskjaer is functioning more with a group like the only Klopp picked up compared to one Guardiola inherited in City in Liverpool. From that viewpoint, this will be a game at Old Trafford and it’s likely to be bothersome sometimes. There are going to be results along the way just like Wolves, Southampton and Crystal Palace, but when you see the group a great deal of the principles are correct.
“They seem to be enjoying the ideal way. You see Daniel James score that goal and you find the manner by which they are currently trying to perform with. Its style is right, the bones are there. But there’s still a very long way to go and it is definitely going to be bumpy along the way”

Neville says:”The draw at Arsenal has been a big moment for Spurs. In terms of Mauricio Pochettino, there was a component of pressure towards Tottenham in the lead up to this match. There were hints he might be on his way outside. There were tips that the dressing room was not quite as it should be when you have seen within the previous three or four decades the balance between players and coach.
“I don’t think that’s not there anymore. Finally there been some components that are unsettling concerning players wanting to conduct their contracts down and possibly maybe attempting to leave.
“However, to have withstood that stress from the second-half at the Emirates until the international break and come away with a point proved to be a big time for Pochettino. It is some thing as a trainer to build on .
“I don’t buy into this Arsenal are going to complete over Tottenham stuff, to be honest. There’s discussion Spurs are on down the road, but I think that they are a superb team.”

Neville states:”Like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United, I Believe the same for Frank Lampard at Chelsea. We are seeing Lampard attempt to alter what has been a system for the previous 15 years in Chelsea. They have been. Youlooked in Chelsea and believed they know their way. They are wise, they’re older.
“You have a take a look at this team today and it has less expertise. It has know how and it has more youth and immaturity concerning it. That comes a few results and more errors.
“Lampard is a youthful supervisor, but having made the choice to appoint him, it doesn’t seem right they’re not going to go together and rear them with what they’re attempting to do – since he’s hoping to change the culture at the club.
“If you are trying to perform what Lampard’s performing, that is bringing throughout the likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek along with other academy-type players, you are going to need to give him his time. That’s the question for both Chelsea, and Manchester United. They will need direction that is strong, they are going to have to withstand some stress, particularly on networking, and also stand firm. They will need to say”We all know what is being assembled, it is right and we’re going to go with it.”
