David de Gea says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had ‘massive impact’ at Manchester United

David de Gea believes Manchester United have improved since last time and says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had a”massive impact” in Old Trafford.
Before being made leader in March solskjaer won 14 of his 19 matches in charge, but the form of United tailed off and they ended the campaign in place – 32 points behind champions Manchester City.
But, despite having a relatively indifferent start to this year, De Gea – that signed Monday with a new long-term contract – says the Norwegian has the full backing of everybody in the club.
“From the minute he arrived here he showed his faith in me, right from moment one,” that the Spain global told United’s official site.
“I think he had a huge impact with the group. I think we won 10 or 11 matches on the rebound. Everybody has faith in him, that’s the thing that is most crucial.
“The fans are behind him and he’s a manager who knows the club quite well and the individuals who work here and I reckon that is vital.
“He shows a lot of confidence in the younger gamers, which will be significant for us and so he’s a very great manager.”
Last season was United defensively because the Premier League began, conceding 54 goals and maintaining only seven blank sheets – two over simply relegated Fulham and Huddersfield.
Two of these came at Old Trafford however De Gea has equalled this tally this year and he believes that the progress being made is equally very pretty apparent.
“We have improved a lot . We’re conceding fewer goals than last season,” he added.
“Last year we’re letting in a lot of goals, but we are defending from there that the team is advancing.
“Of course, when you shield well, the team is likely to improve. We’ve got some fantastic players and we only need to keep on improving.
“The group is far more streamlined and from this foundation I feel that the team is only going to get better, and we’ll be a lot more powerful and a harder team to beat.”
