The growing rivalry between Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist and Preakness Stakes winner Exaggerator might not be continuing in the 2016 Belmont Stakes but oddsmakers are currently anticipating a fairly close race.
Exaggerator, who took second in the Kentucky Derby and won the Preakness to hand his first loss of his career to Nyquist, is the favorite in the recent chances, according to the sportsbooks in Bovada. He currently stands at 5-4 odds (9-5 morning ) to acquire at the $1.5 million, 1-1/2-mile race.
Nyquist’s coaches chose to keep the horse from running at the last Triple Crown race, which will be held at Elmont, N.Y. having an official post moment of 6:37 p.m. ET. It was anticipated by many pundits who Exaggerator, famous for capability and his overdue kick to conserve energy until the last stretch of the track, are the favorite even if the Derby winner had remained in the lineup.
Exaggerator’s odds are only helped by the expectation that the weather could bring rain showers as he’s conducted three of his career races, including his victory in the Preakness, on tracks.

The two Suddenbreakingnews and the speedy Stradivari possess 7-1 odds (10-1 and 5-1 morning line( respectively) while Destin comes into race day at 8-1 (6-1) and Cherry Wine in 9-1 (8-1) chances.
Suddenbreakingnews was the fifth-place finisher in the Kentucky Derby and is considered a pick as a result of this longer track and ability to keep a steady pace. Cherry Wine is also expected to do well with the length, and had a great showing if he came from behind to pass Nyquist for second place.
Stradivari finished fourth in the Preakness and Destin was sixth in the Kentucky Derby.
The area starts to taper off out there, with the Cause of Brody and Governor Malibu holding 14-1 odds and Lani and Creator. Longshots Gettysburg, Hunting the Spirit, Permanently d’Oro and Trojan Nation all have 40-1 chances as of 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
