Canelo vs Alvarez Betting Odds

The No. 3 ranked pound-for-pound boxer on the planet, Saul”Canelo” Alvarez, has chosen to create a huge jump for his next operation, moving to light heavyweight to take on WBO champion Sergey”Krusher” Kovalev on November 2 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Canelo has opened as a -400 favored with Kovalev coming back at +300, despite tacking 15 lbs from his last bout.
I’m quite surprised to see that the chances this much in favor of the WBA, WBC, lineal middleweight winner giving the fact he’s jumping two weight classes. This line is nearly equal for Canelo for his final fight with Daniel Jacobs in which a -500 favorite was closed as by the Mexico native and won through conclusion.
This is not the first time we have seen Canelo leap a weight class and a talent to collide as his middleweight debut came from Gennady Golovkin in 2017, a fight that ended in a draw. Last December, Alvarez fought Rocky Fielding at super middleweight (168 lbs) and stopped the Brit in the next round by body shots.
Krusher Kovalev had been an underdog in February in the rematch against Eleider Alvarez for the WBO light heavyweight title. The Russia native dropped to Alvarez (perhaps not Canelo) in August of this past year by seventh-round TKO but avenged that loss with a unanimous conclusion victory earlier this season. To Andre Ward at 2016 and the rematch at 2017, the only other time was his two losses Ahead of this February bout.
A real fun bout here as we did see Canelo fight at super middleweight and he displayed excellent power with blows to Fielding’s entire body, but we are adding another seven pounds into the mixture. Canelo will have to keep his speed with the weight he will be carrying to capitalize on his counterstriking.
You don’t get known Krusher and that’s what you receive with Kovalev. Of his 34 pro wins, 29 have come by knockout, like a few of the last four. The Russian does doesn’t have a problem eating punches to close the space and allow his heavy hands fly against a smaller opponent in Canelo and have a tendency to absorb a whole great deal of strikes in their own fights.
Should be a really intriguing and enjoyable fight. The way I see it is if Canelo wants to win he stays using counters and his own elusiveness to acquire a decision, although put him to sleep and Kovalev will want to corner the Mexico native.
Prediction: Canelo Alvarez (-400) via decision
