Shaquem Griffin was relegated into a special teams role in his initial season. Coach Pete Carroll want to alter which in 2019.
The outside linebacker played with just eight defensive snaps at the last 15 regular season matches, per Next Gen Stats. Carroll would like to use more this season to the speed of Griffin , particularly as a pass rusher — a position of need in Seattle.
During offseason workouts, Carroll has proceeded Griffin around, putting him at weakside linebacker in nickel packages and strongside in foundation sets, where he can rush the passer.

“It’s been really a fantastic deal for him,” Carroll said, via the team’s official site. “We see how much background he has on the edge. He’s played with outside linebacker for the most part in his profession. He is just more comfortable on the market. That does not mean that he can not perform behind the line of scrimmage. He has gained a lot there, but you can view him on the edge, in space and coming off the border and pressures and things like that, that it’s a good spot for him. So he’s had a very, very great offseason with us.”
Griffin getting more comfortable is a portion of the process going to sophomore. As can his impact on the defense of Seattle Together with more playing time this year that comfort level should increase.
Griffin has become an inspiration for many. His story will only grow When he turns into an every-game playmaker on defense.
