Richard Hannon is excited to see his 2000 Guineas runner-up King Of Change create his return at Sandown on Wednesday.
The Farhh colt was a shot for its colts’ Classic of the season on the Rowley Mile, however outran his odds to finish a second that is clear behind the Aidan O’Brien-trained Magna Grecia.
King Of Change hasn’t yet been seen in competitive activity as but he is very likely to be a hot order to create a comeback within this one-mile Listed competition.
“He’s in good form and has experienced a great break since the Guineas. He goes there with a good opportunity,” explained the Herridge handler.
“I’m sure he’ll come to the run – he’s been off the trail a long time, so he is bound to want it a bit.
“We’re delighted with him and it’ll be useful to get him moving again.”
King is defined to confront five rivals, together with the area led by the South African recruit Winter of Sir Michael Stoute.
The six-year-old has been off the track since January of this past year, when he was beaten in Kenilworth in a Grade One.
The Godolphin colors are transported by Charlie Appleby’s Wootton and Silver Line from Saeed bin Suroor’s yard. The latter bolted up before finishing fifth at a competitive handicap at York a month.
“He has been running well, but this looks a difficult race,” his trainer confessed.
“He is in good condition, is functioning nicely and I am pleased with him. I am hoping for a fantastic run.
“Occasionally these timely races can be a bit simpler than the handicaps, but that one could be rough.”
The Celebration Mile runner-up Turgenev of John Gosden and roger Varian Prince Eiji are the other hopefuls.
The celebrity attraction on the undercard in the Esher venue is your Palace Pier that is Gosden-trained.
The Kingman colt might barely have been more impressive on his debut over the length and distance and wants to take a penalty to victory at the Max Patel Wealth Manager Of Choice Novice Stakes under Frankie Dettori.
Gosden said:”He’s been nice and we intended to visit a beginner. It is the day and we chose to move since he enjoyed that there last time to the track.
“I’ve left him at the Dewhurst and he had been very impressive the other day, (however ) you might suddenly see us sneaking on the Channel – unless they lock us out!”
