Benny King: Tributes paid to renowned cuts man after he passed away this week

Tributes are paid to cuts guy Benny King afterwards he passed away at the age 78.
A notable figure in Scottish boxing for a number of years, King firstly worked the corner as a trainer and subsequently turned into a cuts guy for a very long collection of fighters, such as Craig Docherty, Kevin Anderson Jawaid Khaliq, Tony Dodson, Mark Hobson, James Hare and Kris Carslaw.
Promoter and manager Tommy Gilmour commended this Greenock man, his long-term friends service and dedication.
He has been my pal to get 40-odd decades, said Gilmour. All the places that I went from the Earth, Benny came together along with me.
There has been a whole great deal of unforgettable nights. Craig Docherty got seriously cut and hes retained fighters. He was well respected, whichever side of the weapon he worked .
His loyalty was beyond doubt, I think that was one of the strongest points. He was so loyal to my familys rest along with me, you couldnt have wished for a better friend, or a colleague that is better.
We shot him all over the world together with us, and he constantly kept everyone together, along with the fighters adored him. He gained everybodys admiration as well as their friendship
Gilmour revealed King skills were utilised throughout a traffic crash.
We might see this lorry turning , got out of the car, and Benny at that point, he had had a lot of difficulty with his spine, but the adrenaline should have been draining.
He jumped onto the cottage, captured the fella out. He had a cut eye and Benny saysGo and get my cut equipment out of the rear of the car. Benny patched the guy up in the face of the street until the ambulance came.
Ring Announcer Craig Stephen recalled Kings calm schooling for a cornerman helped Kevin Anderson to a title win over Young Mutley in 2006.
Benny told it like it was, explained Stephen. Kevin Anderson from Young Mutley, I wasnt working the fight, but I had been there and quite near the corner. Benny was cool in the corner as always, although kevin had been in trouble.
Kevin looked up and movedhes broke my teeth, and Benny simply looked at him and saidI will get you a brand new one and got on with it. He kept him going and Kevin eventually stopped Young Mutley.
Billy Nelson, who has trained a number of the most prosperous fighters of Scotland, hailed Kings professionalism.
Benny has been a popular and calm man. He had time for everybody, from amateurs to world champions.
A wealth of understanding of boxing. Only an all-round nice guy. You knew you had a sound, reliable man working in your cornerif he was doing your own reductions, and he gave you good advice following the fight.
Fellow trainer Colin Belshaw also profited in the words of King, who passed to his expertise before bowing out of the sport.
He worked with Kris Carslaw and myself in the British title battle against Brian Rose, said Belshaw. Kris had a nasty cut early on and Benny held that together from the next before the 12th round.
He talked me through, helped me to do cuts myself, and I went on to work in that region.
I believe hell go down as an iconic title, a true legend. He put an awful lot of his entire life into boxing.
